Pakistan PM Sharif meets Erdogan, other leaders at Antalya forum

ANTALYA, Turkey: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met several world leaders on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum on Friday, the Prime Minister’s Office said, as he took part in discussions focused on regional stability, diplomacy and global uncertainties.

According to the PMO, Sharif held informal meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa.

He also met Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.

The PMO said the meetings were held in a “pleasant atmosphere” and that Sharif remained a focal point of attention among participating leaders. Discussions covered regional and global developments, it added.

Sharif is attending the forum and is expected to participate in a leaders’ panel titled *“Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties”*, where he will present Pakistan’s perspective on global challenges. He is also scheduled to attend the forum’s opening ceremony.

On the sidelines, Sharif also met Massad Boulos, Senior Adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump for Arab and African Affairs, the PMO said.

During the meeting, Sharif conveyed greetings to Trump and recalled what he described as cordial past interactions with the U.S. president.

He also expressed appreciation for Trump’s leadership in helping secure ceasefires between Pakistan and India and in Lebanon, according to the statement.

The two sides discussed regional developments, including peace efforts and the so-called “Islamabad talks,” the PMO said, without providing further details.

Boulos conveyed Trump’s greetings to Sharif and appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability, the PMO added.

The U.S. adviser also expressed interest in strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in areas including counter-terrorism, economic development and multilateral diplomacy.

Separately, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held meetings with counterparts from several countries, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Cyprus and Singapore.

In a meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, Dar discussed bilateral ties and regional developments, saying both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation, according to a post on social media platform X.

Attaf appreciated Pakistan’s role in supporting ceasefire efforts and promoting dialogue for regional peace and stability, Dar said.
