Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Saturday for an official visit, as Tehran signalled it would rely on Pakistan to convey its position to the United States amid ongoing regional tensions.

The visit was confirmed by Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei, who said the trip comes as part of Pakistan’s “mediation and good offices” aimed at ending what Tehran described as an “American-imposed war of aggression” and restoring peace in the region.

According to Baqaei, the Iranian delegation is expected to hold meetings with senior Pakistani officials during the visit. The talks are likely to focus on de-escalation efforts, regional stability, and diplomatic channels to address the ongoing crisis involving the United States.

However, Baqaei made it clear that no direct engagement between Iran and the United States is planned at this stage. Instead, Iran will communicate its observations and positions through Pakistan, which has been actively engaged in facilitating dialogue and reducing tensions.

Pakistan has in recent weeks positioned itself as a potential mediator, urging all sides to pursue diplomatic solutions and avoid further escalation. Officials in Islamabad have repeatedly emphasised the importance of dialogue in maintaining regional peace.

While details of Araghchi’s meetings have not been made public, diplomatic observers say the visit underscores Pakistan’s growing role as an intermediary in the evolving situation. The outcome of the talks could shape the next steps in efforts to ease tensions between Tehran and Washington.
