Pakistan

MULTAN: After the West Indies ended Pakistan’s first innings on Saturday, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali took it on himself to get revenge, with the two combining for nine wickets.

Pakistan’s Innings

Pakistan were in dire straits after the bowling of Jayden Seales tore through their batting line-up. By tea time on Friday, the men in green found themselves down four wickets, with a score of only 86 after 28 overs. However, Rizwan and Shakeel brought life back into the team, providing a much-needed partnership, that is now up to 118 runs.

Unfortunately, Kevin Sinclair ended the partnership in the 58th over, on a delivery that took a sharp turn, hitting the edge of Shakeel’s bat before Imlach took the catch. Shakeel was dismissed after making 84 runs off 157 deliveries. After his departure, the rest of Pakistan’s batting line-up crumbled rapidly.

Noman Ali was dismissed for a duck in the very next over. Indeicsiion from Rizwan led to Noman being sent back tot he non-strikers end after he was already halfway down the pitch. He wasnt able to make it back in time and Pakistan found themselves down seven wickets.

Moments later, they were down eight. It was Sinclair once again, dismissing Rizwan for an lbw, as his delivery hit him on the pad as Rizwan missed with a reverse-sweep attempt. A few overs later in the 67th, Warrican dismissed Khurram Shahzad. The ball popped up into the air after the ball found the edtge of Shahzad’s bat, and Kraigg Brathwaite took the catch.

Pakistan’s last wicket fell in the 69th over. It was Warrican picking up his third wicket of the day, on a delivery that defelcted off Sajid Khan’s pad and onto the stumps.

Pakistan were all out in their first innings with a score of 230.

West Indies Innings

Sajid’s spin bowling proved to be effective immediately, as he took two back to back wickets on the first two balls he bowled. His first delivery turned sharply, finding the gap between Mikyle Louis’ bat and pad before it struck the stumps.

Keacy Karty was sent off on the very next ball. This time Sajid’s delivery bounced a little higher, hitting what seemed to be Karty’s handle. Debutant Muhammad Hurraira took an incredible juggling catch as he leapt to his right.

Sajid wasnt done yet. He took two more wickets in his next over. West Indies skipper Brathwaite was bowled after he missed a sweep attempt. A few balls later Kavem Hodge chipped Sajid’s delivery right back to him and suddenly, the West Indies found themselves down four in five overs.

Noman Ali took the next three wickets, beginning with the dismissal of Justin Greaves in the 10th over. After he bowled Greaves, Nomas dismissed Tevin Imlach for an lbw in his next over. Noman continued the streak in the next over, dismissing Alick Athanaze with another lbw.

He wasnt done yet, taking yet another wicket in four consecutive over. It was Kevin Sinclair, who had to leave the field after his shot was caught by Kamran Ghulam at long-off. Noman completed his five wicket haul in the 22nd over by bowling Gukadesh Motie.

Jayden Seales was the last man to fall for West Indies. It was Abrar Ahmed taking his first and only wicket of the innings, on a delivery that was caught by Rizwan after Seales sliced it in the air.

The West Indies were all out for 137 runs. Sixty percent of their runs came from their last four batters.
