Pakistan welcomes Lebanon ceasefire, hopes for lasting peace

Pakistan has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, expressing hope that the development will lead to long-term peace and stability in the region.

In an official statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the ceasefire was achieved through “bold and sagacious diplomatic efforts,” led by US President Donald Trump. It termed the development a positive step towards reducing tensions and preventing further escalation.

Pakistan reaffirmed its consistent support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasising that any durable peace must respect the country’s independence and national unity.

The statement added that Pakistan remains committed to supporting all international and regional efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable resolution to conflicts in the Middle East. It stressed the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and coordinated global action in addressing ongoing crises.

Officials noted that the ceasefire provides an opportunity for all parties to move towards constructive engagement and avoid further violence.

Pakistan has repeatedly called for peaceful solutions to regional conflicts and continues to advocate for diplomatic channels to be prioritised over confrontation.

The government expressed hope that the latest development in Lebanon would serve as a foundation for broader stability in the region, while reaffirming its readiness to play a supportive role in peace-building initiatives where possible.
