Pakistan welcomes Sikh pilgrims for Vaisakhi, reaffirms interfaith harmony

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has warmly welcomed Sikh pilgrims arriving from India and around the world to participate in the annual Vaisakhi Mela, which is underscoring the country’s commitment to religious respect, interfaith harmony and hospitality.

Officials said Pakistan continues to facilitate full access to key Sikh religious sites while providing security, services, and logistical support to visiting pilgrims.

The move, they said, reflects the country’s effort to promote peaceful coexistence and strengthen people-to-people connections beyond borders.

The arrival of Sikh pilgrims for Vaisakhi is being seen not only as a religious observance but also as a symbol of shared heritage and mutual respect.

Pakistan has highlighted its role as the custodian of several sacred Sikh sites, including Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, Gurdwara Panja Sahib and Gurdwara Nankana Sahib which remain open to pilgrims from across the globe.

Authorities reaffirm that the country is taking a heartiest pride in preserving these historic religious landmarks and ensuring their accessibility, saying that they are part of a shared cultural and spiritual legacy that transcends borders and promotes unity among communities.
