Pakistani students win three bronze medals at 56th International Physics Olympiad

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani students have won three bronze medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO), held from July 4 to 12 in Bucaramanga, Colombia, according to the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC).
More than 400 students from over 90 countries participated in the global competition. The medal winners from Pakistan included Zulfiqar Ali, Hamdan Alvi, and Daniyal Shehzad Hamid.
Students Heza Mahmood from Lahore and Abdullah Ejaz from Rawalpindi also received special honourable mentions for their performances.
The Pakistani team members were selected through the National Science Talent Contest, jointly organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS).
Following a rigorous selection process, the selected students underwent intensive training sessions at the PIEAS campus. They received advanced theoretical and experimental training from national and international experts.
The Pakistani team was led by PIEAS professors Muhammad Irfan and Muhammad Waseem during the international competition.
