Pensioners get modern ‘Proof of Life’ system to ease pension withdrawal

WEB DESK: National pensioners will now have access to a modern digital “Proof of Life” system aimed at making the process of receiving pensions easier and more convenient. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the system on Thursday.

The “Proof of Life” application uses biometric and facial recognition technology through a mobile app to verify pensioners before they receive their payments.

Addressing a gathering in Islamabad, the prime minister said the government was working day and night for the country’s development and prosperity, according to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

“The new biometric and facial verification system is a service to humanity,” the prime minister said.

He congratulated Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar and Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal on the initiative.

“Millions of pensioners will benefit from this modern digital system and application,” he added.
