The federal government on Wednesday evening increased the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), according to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

The price of petrol has been increased by Rs6.88 per litre, while high-speed diesel has become Rs5.62 per litre more expensive.

Following the latest increase, petrol will now cost Rs391.22 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel has risen to Rs421.45 per litre.

The latest revision marks the eighth consecutive increase in petroleum prices by the government.

The new prices will take effect from 12:00am Thursday and remain in effect until the next revision is announced.

The repeated increases have pushed petrol and diesel prices to fresh levels, increasing fuel costs for consumers and transport operators.
