Petrol rush in Islamabad amid shortage rumours: Is Rs40 per litre petrol hike expected?

A rush was witnessed at petrol pumps across Islamabad as rumours of a possible fuel shortage and price increase sparked panic among citizens.
However, the district administration clarified that there is no shortage of petrol in the city and all fuel stations have sufficient stock.
Officials said reports of supply disruption are baseless rumours and urged the public not to panic.
It maybe not that concerns are also rising over a possible increase in petrol prices amid the confusion.
Regarding this, sources suggest that global oil price hikes may lead to a revision in fuel rates, with early estimates indicating a potential increase of Rs3 to Rs4 per litre in diesel prices from May 1.
