ISLAMABAD: Around 3,000 runners and cycling enthusiasts took part in the Himmel Pinktober Run across Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad on Saturday, raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting fundraising efforts for the cause.
Organised by Sports In Pakistan, the event was held simultaneously in the three cities, bringing together fitness enthusiasts and running communities to promote breast cancer awareness, early detection and timely medical consultation.
Karachi hosted the main event at DHA Phase 8, while participants in Lahore gathered at Bagh-e-Jinnah and those in Islamabad took part at the Sports Complex.
Runs and cycling events held
The event featured 5km and 10km runs, a 20km cycling event and a special 30km run for participants in the Karachi Distance Series.

The organisers said the initiative aimed to use the popularity of running and community sports to encourage conversations about breast cancer and highlight the importance of early detection and seeking timely medical advice.
Speaking after the event, Shoaib Nizami, CEO of Sports In Pakistan, said bringing together around 3,000 participants across three cities for a common cause was encouraging.
“The Himmel Pinktober Run was about much more than running or cycling; it was about spreading awareness, standing in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer and demonstrating how sports communities can contribute positively to society,” he said.
Nizami said the organisers hoped the initiative would encourage more conversations about breast cancer awareness, early detection and timely medical consultation.

He thanked the participants for supporting the cause, adding that everyone had contributed to spreading an important message, regardless of the distance they covered.
Sports used to promote awareness
The event highlighted how community sporting activities can bring people together to support social causes while encouraging healthier lifestyles.
Sports In Pakistan said it aims to continue using sporting initiatives to promote community engagement, raise awareness and create a positive social impact.
The organisers said the Pinktober Run was intended to build solidarity with people affected by breast cancer while supporting efforts to raise awareness about the disease.
