ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has sent a formal letter of congratulations to US President Donald Trump on his assumption of office.
Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has also congratulated the new Secretary of State, according to Radio Pakistan.
On Monday, president Asif Ali Zardari and prime minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Donald Trump on assuming the office as the 47th President of the United States of America.
Both president and the premier wished their facilitation in separate messages to the president Donald Trump.
The prime minister on his official X timeline wrote: “My warmest congratulations to Donald Trump on his assumption of office as the forty-seventh President of the United States of America. I look forward to working with him to strengthen the enduring Pakistan-US partnership.”
He said over the years, both the two great countries had worked together closely to pursue peace and prosperity in the region and beyond for their people, adding, “and we shall continue to do so in the future.” He extended his best wishes to President Trump for a successful second term in office.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump hailed the dawn of a “golden age” for the United States as he was sworn in as the country’s 47th president on Monday.
During his inaugural address as the 47th president of the United States, he said, “The golden age of America begins right now. From this day forward our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world,” he said.
He declared that America’s “decline is over,” framing his return to power as a rejection of the “radical and corrupt” establishment he claimed defined Joe Biden’s presidency.
“My recent election is a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal and all of these many betrayals that have taken place, and to give the people back their faith, their wealth, their democracy and indeed their freedom,” Trump said. “From this moment on, America’s decline is over.”
