PM Shehbaz felicitates Saudi leadership on National Day

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday extended felicitations to Saudi Arabia’s leadership and people on the kingdom’s National Day, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its longstanding ties with Riyadh.

In a message posted on X, PM Shehbaz congratulated King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Saudi people, saying the kingdom’s progress and transformation were a source of pride and admiration for Pakistan.

He said Saudi Arabia was continuing to make strides towards greater prosperity, modernisation and innovation under the leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

PM Shehbaz described Pakistan’s relationship with Saudi Arabia as a “historic and time-tested brotherhood” rooted in shared faith, mutual trust and close ties between the two peoples.

He said the relationship was developing into a stronger strategic partnership based on a shared commitment to peace, security and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.

The prime minister also highlighted the signing of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement and the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between the two countries.

Pakistan reaffirms condemnation of Houthi attacks

PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, particularly what he described as an attempted drone attack targeting Makkah Al-Mukarramah.

“Any threat to the sanctity and security of the Haramain Sharifain deeply wounds the sentiments of Muslims across the world,” he said.

PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia in safeguarding its sovereignty and security, as well as the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites.

“Pakistan stands unwaveringly, shoulder to shoulder, with the Kingdom in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites,” he said.

The prime minister expressed hope that Pakistan-Saudi Arabia ties would continue to strengthen, concluding his message with a reaffirmation of the two countries’ longstanding brotherhood.
