ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police have announced road closures and diversions for October 24 and 25, with the road from Rawal Dam Chowk to Kashmir Chowk and the route from Serena Hotel to Kashmir Chowk to remain completely closed.
Commuters have been advised to use alternative routes and leave 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual to avoid inconvenience, as traffic flow on several roads may be disrupted during the diversions.
Under the diversion plan, commuters travelling from G-5, the Secretariat and Serena Hotel towards Rawalpindi can use Srinagar Highway and Ninth Avenue, or take Srinagar Highway towards Mehrabadi and Peshawar Road. They can also take a U-turn at Lake View and use Murree Road or Club Road.
Those heading towards Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road and Lehtrar Road have been advised to use Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, Shakarparian Road, Tulip Hotel Road and Rawal Dam Road.
Travellers to Murree and Bhara Kahu can use Faisal Avenue via Faizabad, Zero Point and the Srinagar Highway underpass, then proceed through Jinnah Square and Konrayan Wala Chowk.
Commuters entering Islamabad from Rawalpindi can use Ninth Avenue, Faqir Aipi Road and Srinagar Highway, while those travelling to Islamabad from Park Road and Lehtrar Road have been advised to take Tulip Hotel Road, Garden Avenue, Shakarparian Road and Seventh Avenue.
The Chief Traffic Officer said traffic police personnel would remain deployed to facilitate commuters during the diversion period. Updates will also be broadcast on ITP FM 92.4, and citizens have been advised to follow Islamabad Police’s social media pages for further information.
