During the visit, the prime minister met separately with the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan and the Chief Minister, where discussions focused on ongoing development initiatives and the overall security situation in the region.

Officials said the meetings reviewed progress on various development projects currently underway in Gilgit-Baltistan, with particular emphasis on infrastructure, connectivity, and public welfare schemes aimed at improving living standards in the mountainous region.

The leadership also briefed the prime minister on the prevailing law and order situation. According to sources, the discussion included an assessment of security challenges and measures being taken to maintain peace and stability across the region, which holds strategic importance due to its location and ongoing development activity.

The prime minister reportedly expressed satisfaction over the pace of development work and reiterated the federal government’s commitment to ensuring sustained socio-economic progress in Gilgit-Baltistan. He stressed the need for timely completion of projects and better coordination between federal and regional authorities to address public concerns.

Local leadership, in turn, highlighted key issues facing the region, including infrastructure gaps and the need for additional resources to support development planning and service delivery in remote areas.

The visit comes amid Islamabad’s broader efforts to accelerate development in Pakistan’s northern regions, with Gilgit-Baltistan remaining a central focus due to its tourism potential, geographic significance, and its role in regional connectivity projects.
