WEB DESK: Reforms introduced by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) are opening new global opportunities for Pakistani doctors, with an increasing number of medical graduates achieving success in international licensing examinations and residency programmes.

More than 1,400 Pakistani medical graduates have secured positions in the United States residency programme this year, marking a significant milestone for the country’s medical education sector.

The PMDC said the growing success of Pakistani doctors on international platforms reflects the impact of improved medical education standards, updated curricula and forward-looking policies aimed at strengthening the healthcare education system.

The council said that Pakistani medical graduates are becoming increasingly competitive in global healthcare systems, with their representation and success rising among international medical graduates.

PMDC said the implementation of quality assurance measures, competency-based learning, improved clinical training and alignment with international standards has helped young doctors develop stronger professional skills and confidence to compete worldwide.

The council noted that the rising number of Pakistani doctors securing international residency opportunities demonstrates the effectiveness of reforms aimed at enhancing the quality and recognition of medical education in Pakistan.

PMDC President Rizwan Taj said the achievements of young doctors are a matter of pride for the country, adding that every graduate succeeding abroad represents the dedication of students, teachers, medical institutions and ongoing educational reforms.

He said PMDC remains committed to further improving medical education standards, supporting healthcare institutions and creating more opportunities for Pakistani doctors to excel across the world.

The council said the latest progress marks a new chapter for Pakistan’s medical community, showing that with quality education, structured training and institutional support, Pakistani graduates are successfully competing at the highest levels of global healthcare.
