Pneumonia claims lives of 18 more children in Punjab

LAHORE: Punjab has witnessed 18 more deaths due to pneumonia in the past 24 hours. A total of 869 pneumonia cases have been reported across the province, with Lahore alone grappling with 177 new cases, according to news report,

The escalating crisis has seen Punjab recording a staggering 258 deaths and 14,530 cases attributed to pneumonia thus far. Among these alarming figures, Lahore has reported 53 deaths and 2,490 cases during the same period.

Health experts point to the prevalent winter season and the associated air pollution, particularly smog, as key factors driving the surge in pneumonia cases. The hazardous smog, a byproduct of rampant air pollution, has been identified as a significant contributor to the spike in pneumonia-related fatalities.
