Police gets seven days’ remand of Manzoor Pashteen

ISLAMABAD: Founder of the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement( PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen has been handed over to police on seven days’ physical remand.
Judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain assumed the hearing on Thursday.
Police produced Pashteen before the court and requested for 10 days physical remand.
Court granted 7 days physical remand of Pashteen and adjourned the case till December 14.
Manzoor Pashteen arrested from Chaman
The PTM leader was arrested early Tuesday from Chaman, Balochistan, was brought to Islamabad late yesterday night, according to Pashteen’s legal team and party workers.
Pashteen was in Chaman to attend a large demonstration demanding the reversal of a government policy which makes it mandatory for Afghan nationals to carry a Pakistani visa to enter the country. The policy came on the back of Pakistan declaring nearly 1.7 million refugees and migrants in the country “illegal” and ordering their immediate expulsion.
The 29-year-old activist was arrested for allegedly firing on police vehicles, a charge the PTM denies.
However on Wednesday the PTM leader couldn’t be produced in the Islamabad court after 24 hours of his arrest.
There are four FIRs against Pashteen registered at Tarnol, Bara Kahu police stations, CTD, and FIA in Islamabad.
