Police seize huge cache of arms, drugs headed for Islamabad from KP

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police arrested successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge cache of arms, ammunition, and drugs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad.
This was said by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Muhammad Arslan Shahzaib during a press conference held at Tarnol Police Station on Saturday.
Giving details of the operations, he said that the seized huge cache of arms and ammunition included 168 nine mm Glock pistols, 69 nine mm Beretta pistols, 19 thirty bore pistols, 15 Makarov pistols, one 32-bore pistol, four MP-5 carbines, two 12-bore double-barrel shotguns, 10 twelve bore shotguns and three 44 bore rifles, along with 12,500 rounds of 30 bore ammunition, 4,000 rounds of nine mm ammunition, 4,040 rounds of 44 mm ammunition, 2,900 rounds of .308 ammunition, and 100 rounds of seven mm ammunition.
Additionally, the SSP added, 150 grams of ice and 4,450 grams of heroin powder were also recovered from the possession of the arrested accused, identified as Raza Muhammad.
The accused has a criminal record and has been involved in eight cases in various districts of Punjab. A case has been registered against the accused at the Tarnol Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
He also mentioned that DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza has announced that commendation certificates will be awarded to the police teams for their efficient performance. He added that the police will not allow any miscreants to disturb the peace and order of the federal capital, Islamabad.
“All officers are working tirelessly to ensure the city’s full security. Diligent police officers are continuously performing their duties at the checkpoints at the city’s entrances and exits, while 24/7 surveillance is being conducted with the help of Safe City Islamabad’s modern surveillance cameras.”
He further instructed all officers to tighten the circle around criminal elements in the federal capital. The protection of citizens’ lives and property is the top priority of Islamabad Police, he added.
