Power shorfall crosses 6000MW

ISLAMABAD: The power shortfall in Pakistan escalated to a staggering 6,139 megawatts on Wednesday, resulting in extended power outages lasting up to 12 hours across various regions of the country.
The total electricity production in the country stands at 20,862 megawatts, while the overall demand has surged to 27,000 megawatts. Power Division sources have revealed that 8,173 megawatts are being generated through hydropower plants.
At present, private power plants contribute 8,394 megawatts to the national grid, whereas 2,990 megawatts are generated from nuclear power plants, significantly supporting the overall power supply.
