President Zardari confers civil awards at Aiwan-e-Sadr ceremony

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, during a ceremony held at the Presidency to distribute civil awards, conferred shields on various distinguished individuals in recognition of their outstanding services in different fields

Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Owais Ahmad Khan Leghari was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for successful reforms in the energy sector.

The Nishan-e-Imtiaz was awarded to deceased Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan for his services to democracy. His award was received by his son Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad Khan.

The Nishan-e-Imtiaz was also awarded deceased to Iftikhar-ul-Haq Siddiqui for his contributions to literature and public service. His award was also received by his son Imran Khawar Siddiqui.

Atta-ul-Haq Qasmi was awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his distinguished services in literature. His award was received on his behalf by his son Muhammad Yaser Pirzada.

Several martyrs were awarded the Hilal-e-Shujaat for their sacrifices for the country, including soldier Shah Wali Khan, soldier Azhar Mehmood, ASI Ijaz Khan, Sub-Inspector Laik Zada, Constable Alam Zeb, and Constable Muhammad Ijaz.

Advisor on Privatization Muhammad Ali received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his services in energy and public administration.

Muazzam Jan Ansari was also awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his contributions in public service.

Engineer Jamal-ud-Din Ahmed received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his work in engineering and electricity sectors.

Mirza Rizwan Baig was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for contributions in science and technology, while Muhammad Yousuf Khan received the same honour for services in space science and technology.

Amir Muhammad and Professor Iqram-ul-Haq were also awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for their services in agriculture and education respectively.

Writers Asghar Nadeem Syed and Zahra Majid Ali received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for their contributions to literature.

Cricketer Shahid Khan Afridi was awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his outstanding services in sports, while mountaineer Shehroze Kashif was also honoured for his achievements.

Other awards were given to deceased Malik Muhammad Atta Khan (for services in horsemanship) and deceased Senator Taj Haider (for his contributions to politics and mathematics).

Journalist Ehtisham-ul-Haq received the Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his services in journalism, while Aziz-ud-Din Bolani was honoured for contributions in tourism and hospitality.

Bahrain Ambassador Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad Abdul Qadir also received the Sitara-e-Pakistan for strengthening Pakistan–Bahrain relations.

Several individuals, including Javedullah Khan Mehsud, Nawab Ali (Shaheed), and Senator Hidayatullah (Shaheed), were awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat for bravery and public service.

A large number of police officers and constables were also posthumously awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat for their exceptional bravery and sacrifices for the country.
