LONDON: Kate, the Princess of Wales, has completed Britain’s National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours to raise funds for a cancer charity and highlight the importance of holistic cancer care.

Kate, 44, who is in remission after undergoing chemotherapy for an undisclosed form of cancer, said the challenge was about more than physical endurance. It was an opportunity to reflect on life after a cancer diagnosis and give back to the hospital that treated her.

In a message shared on her official social media accounts on Sunday, the Princess said she climbed Scafell Pike, Ben Nevis, and Snowdon to support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which funds research and patient care at the hospital where she received treatment.

“I have taken on the National Three Peaks Challenge, not simply as a physical endeavour but as a chance to explore life beyond diagnosis and to give something back,” Kate said.

She described The Royal Marsden as a place of deep personal significance, praising its care and expertise for transforming the lives of cancer patients.

Kate revealed in 2024 that she had undergone preventive chemotherapy after major abdominal surgery had detected an unspecified form of cancer. She has since returned to public duties while speaking openly about the physical and emotional challenges of the disease.

In her latest message, the Princess stressed that cancer affects far more than a person’s physical health, saying patients often face psychological, emotional and social challenges throughout their treatment and recovery.

“Together, we can stand alongside everyone navigating life with cancer, ensuring no one faces this disease feeling unseen or unsupported,” she said.

The fundraising initiative aims to raise awareness of the need for comprehensive cancer care while supporting the work of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
