Proteas reach 185 runs as South Africa vs Pakistan stumps Rawalpindi Test Day 2

RAWALPINDI: As the second day of the Rawalpindi Test between South Africa and Pakistan closed here, the Proteas reached 185 for four in response to the national team’s first-innings total of 333.
South Africa’s innings began with an early setback when Ryan Rickelton fell to Shaheen Afridi for 14 at the total of 22. Tony de Zorzi made 55, captain Aiden Markram scored 32, while Dewald Brevis was dismissed without scoring.
Debutant Asif Afridi picked up two wickets, while Shaheen Afridi and Sajid Khan claimed one each. Tristan Stubbs remained unbeaten on 68 alongside Kyle Verreynne, who was not out on 10.

Earlier, Pakistan resumed their innings on 259 for five but could add only 74 more runs before being bowled out for 333. Agha Salman made 45 before being trapped lbw, while Saud Shakeel scored 66 before falling to Keshav Maharaj. The South African spinner also bowled Shaheen Afridi for a duck and later dismissed Sajid Khan and Asif Afridi for 5 and 4 respectively — becoming only the second South African bowler to take seven wickets in an innings against Pakistan.

Skipper Shan Masood top-scored with 87, while Abdullah Shafique made 57. Mohammad Rizwan (19), Imam-ul-Haq (17), and Babar Azam (16) made brief contributions.
