ISLAMABAD: Amid ongoing protests across Pakistan demanding the release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his sisters held a separate press conference yesterday, signalling a more visible role for the family in the unfolding political crisis. The briefing took place at 3 PM in Bani Gala, the former prime minister’s residence.
The demonstrations, which include a sit-in at the Parliament House, feature prominent political figures such as Opposition Leader Mahmood Achakzai, Allama Nasir Abbas, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, and former NA Speaker Asad Qaiser, among others. Protesters are demanding that Imran Khan receive proper medical treatment and fair legal proceedings.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), demonstrations have spread to multiple cities, reflecting growing public concern over Imran Khan’s health and detention.
Earlier, PTI KP President Junaid Akbar Khan said that leadership decisions regarding Imran Khan would be finalised either by the party or by Mahmood Achakzai. He also mentioned that Imran Khan had instructed his family to follow the decisions made by Achakzai.
The independent press conference by Khan’s sisters highlights the family’s increasing public involvement and underscores the tension between the political leadership and the personal stakes of Imran Khan’s relatives in this evolving situation.
