In a tournament full of surprises, Hyderabad Kingsmen have emerged as the most unexpected finalists, proving that resilience and belief can overturn even the harshest criticism. At the start of the competition, few gave Hyderabad any chance. Under the captaincy of Marnus Labuschagne, the team struggled badly, losing four consecutive matches. Critics were quick to write them off, calling them one of the weakest sides in the tournament.
However, everything changed with the arrival of Glenn Maxwell. While his individual batting performances were not consistently explosive, apart from a crucial 70-run innings, his impact on the team went far beyond statistics. Maxwell brought experience, confidence, and a winning mindset. Sometimes, the presence of a senior player alone can uplift a team, and Hyderabad is a perfect example of that. After his inclusion, Hyderabad won 7 out of their next 8 matches, completing a remarkable turnaround and securing a spot in the qualifiers.
Their journey reached a dramatic peak in the eliminator against a strong Islamabad United side. It was a nail-biting contest that tested Hyderabad’s nerves and character. Despite losing momentum in the middle of the match, Hyderabad held their composure when it mattered the most. The standout moment came in the final over, where Hunain Shah, brother of Naseem Shah, successfully defended just 6 runs. At a point when the entire team seemed under pressure, Hunain showed incredible courage and delivered one of the most memorable finishes in PSL history.
Now, Hyderabad Kingsmen are set to face Peshawar Zalmi in the final, a team widely considered the strongest in the tournament. To win the title, Hyderabad must strike early by dismissing key players like Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis, just as they did against Multan Sultans by removing their top performers early like smith and farhan
As the final approaches, it seems the entire nation is rallying behind Hyderabad. What once looked impossible is now within reach, and perhaps, their owner’s bold claim that “Hyderabad will do something special” is about to come true.
