PTI to lodge complaint with SJC over IHC CJ’s actions in Toshakhana case

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has revealed its intention to file a formal complaint against Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) with the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

This decision comes in response to a recent ruling by a bench led by Justice Farooq, which declined to halt the sentence of PTI Chief in the Toshakhana case.

In a statement issued by the PTI Core Committee, responsible for party affairs in light of the chairman’s incarceration, strong condemnation was expressed for the adjournment of the Toshakhana case proceedings until Thursday, August 24th, by the IHC.

The party statement reads, “To preserve the autonomy of the judiciary, it has been resolved to present a formal complaint to the Supreme Judicial Council against Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court.”

Furthermore, the statement implores Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial to take cognizance of the manner in which Chief Justice Farooq of the IHC rendered the verdict.

“The CJP is urged to guarantee an equitable trial for the PTI chairman as enshrined in Article 10-A,” stated the former ruling party, simultaneously calling upon Chief Justice Farooq to immediately recuse himself from the case.

Accusing the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court of trivializing the principles of law and justice, the PTI asserted, “The actions of the IHC chief justice have reduced the integrity of justice to a mere spectacle. The procrastination of justice is tantamount to the obliteration of justice.”

The party also alleged that the adjournment witnessed today was a part of an ongoing pattern of “vendetta and aggression” against the party leader
