Punjab boards announce matric position holders ahead of results

LAHORE: Education boards across Punjab on Wednesday announced the names of toppers in the 2026 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examinations, a day before the official declaration of the matriculation results.

The position holders were announced by several boards, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala and Multan, while the complete results are scheduled to be released on Thursday, August 6.

Lahore Board

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore said about 285,800 students appeared in the matriculation examinations this year.

Amina Mehboob, a student of a private school in Pattoki, Kasur district, secured the overall first position with 1,192 marks out of 1,200.

A student of Danish High School in Rajanpur clinched  second position with 1,191 marks, while Azba Javed from Johar Town, Lahore, secured third place.

In the boys’ arts group, Muhammad Abdullah stood first with 1,126 marks, followed by Muhammad Bilal Baig with 1,112 marks and Imad Hafeez with 1,109 marks.

Faisalabad Board

The Faisalabad board announced Amina Salahuddin as the overall topper after she scored 1,191 marks.

Rameen Fatima secured second position with 1,190 marks, while Muhammad Raif Abdul Ahad came third with 1,189 marks.

Raif Abdul Ahad topped the boys’ science group, while Amina Salahuddin secured first place in the girls’ science group.

Muhammad Saim Ali topped the boys’ general group, while Insharah secured first position in the girls’ general group.

Bahawalpur Board

The Bahawalpur board declared Abdul Haseeb of Government Abbasia Higher Secondary School as the overall first position holder with 1,186 marks.

Another student from the same institution, Muzammil Bilal, secured second position with 1,184 marks.

Javeria Fatima and Iman Fatima Malik jointly claimed third position with 1,183 marks.

Government Abbasia Higher Secondary School secured both the first and second overall positions in the board.

Dera Ghazi Khan Board

Abdullah Saleem from Layyah topped the Dera Ghazi Khan board with 1,191 marks.

Meer Mujtaba from Taunsa Sharif secured second position with 1,190 marks.

Farwah Ahmed of Muzaffargarh, Meerab Zahra of Layyah and Syed Muhammad Joon Abbas, also from Layyah, jointly secured third place after obtaining 1,189 marks each.

Board Chairman Professor Dr Abdul Rauf congratulated the position holders and their parents on their achievements.

Gujranwala Board

The Gujranwala board announced Adina Rashid and Siddiqa Almas as joint first position holders after both scored 1,190 marks.

Zain Akram secured second position with 1,188 marks, while Muhammad Ahmed finished third with 1,187 marks.

A ceremony to honour the position holders will be held in Sialkot on Thursday, where Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat will be the chief guest. The minister is also expected to formally announce the matriculation results.

Multan Board

The Multan board also announced its position holders ahead of the official release of detailed results at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

Mehreen Rasool secured the overall first position with 1,190 marks, followed by Faiqa Mehboob with 1,188 marks.

Humna Ibrahim, Khadija Chaudhry and Arsalna Fatima jointly secured third position with 1,187 marks each.

In the boys’ science group, Hamza Imran and Abdul Moeed jointly claimed first position with 1,184 marks, while Samiullah came second with 1,180 marks. Abdul Hadi, Muhammad Yahya and Arsal Ehsan shared third position with 1,179 marks.

In the girls’ science group, Mehreen Rasool finished first, Faiqa Mehboob second, while Humna Ibrahim, Khadija Chaudhry and Arsalna Fatima jointly secured third place.

In the boys’ arts group, Muhammad Waqas topped with 1,089 marks, followed by Faizan with 1,083 marks and Muhammad Mughni with 1,066 marks.

In the girls’ arts group, Tanzila Abbas secured first position with 1,123 marks. Amina Ashiq and Sitara Bibi shared second position with 1,121 marks, while Tayyaba and Fazilat Fatima jointly claimed third place with 1,116 marks.

The annual matriculation examinations are conducted by Punjab’s nine education boards each year, with position holders announced a day before the publication of complete results. The examinations are a key milestone for students seeking admission to intermediate colleges across the province.
