LAHORE: The Punjab Home Department has imposed Section 144 around all Pakistan Air Force bases and commercial airports across the province for 30 days to ensure the safety of flight operations, a spokesperson said on Thursday.
Under the restrictions, pigeon flying, the use of laser lights and the dumping of sacrificial meat and animal waste have been banned within a 13-kilometre radius of airports and air bases, the spokesperson said.
The department said the restrictions were imposed under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1898, and would apply to all commercial airports and PAF installations in Punjab.
Authorities said such activities pose serious risks to flight safety and could disrupt air operations, particularly as birds are attracted to meat and animal waste, increasing the danger to aircraft and passengers.
The Punjab government also directed local administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the orders and maintain cleanliness in and around airports and air bases.
