Punjab orders termination of illegal appointments in key sectors

WEB DESK: The Punjab School Education Department has ordered immediate implementation of an inquiry report into the recruitment of Class IV employees carried out in 2022 and 2023, directing action against illegally appointed staff and officials involved in the process.

The contracts of 151 Class IV employees whose appointments were declared lawful will be extended in line with the relevant laws and government policy, according to official directives

At the same time, the department has ordered the termination of 209 Class IV employees whose appointments were found to have been made illegally. Authorities concerned have been instructed to complete the dismissal process without delay.

The department has also initiated disciplinary proceedings against 69 officials allegedly involved in the unlawful recruitment. Relevant authorities have been asked to immediately submit details of the officers, including their grades, current postings, retirement dates and contact information.

Officials found responsible will face departmental proceedings under the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEDA) Act, 2006, the department said.

The Chief Executive Officer of the District Education Authority Lahore has been directed to ensure immediate compliance with the implementation orders.
