Punjab to establish Punjab Film City to bring filmmaking glory back to Lahore

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to establish Punjab Film City in Lahore aimed for bringing the glory of filmmaking back to the province capital.

According to sources, the announced Punjab Film City will be comprised on 50 acre land in Lahore which will be a space where their dreams will take flight, showcasing the true and vibrant face of Pakistan to the world.

The source also said that the idea of Punjab Film City was conceived by the government nearly two years ago and the officials shaped continuous consultations with individuals from the entertainment industry of Pakistan. This unprecedented project will create a sovereign and end to end pipeline for content creation in Pakistan.

According to another source, the fantasy spot will feature the world class studios and sound stages, advanced VFX and post-production labs, diverse backlots with a central lake.

It will have the purpose of building a convention hall for international award shows, integrated media trade hubs, and a film and music school along with dedicated safety and emergency response infrastructure and a vibrant entertainment district.

This initiative will empower local talent which will enable them to avoid reliance on the foreign producers.

Also, the Pakistani filmmakers will be provided with thousands of jobs, after the hub is constructed in Lahore. It may be noted that the initiative will also position Pakistan as a global hub for creative excellence.

“Our vision is to transform Punjab into a global destination for technology, innovation, heritage and culture. Punjab Film City is a gift to our youth and artists,” according to Punjab government.
