Rain expected ahead of India vs Pakistan World Cup match in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain in Ahmedabad and North Gujarat on October 14, the day of the highly-anticipated India vs Pakistan World Cup match.

“Gujarat is expected to remain dry during the next five days, while Ahmedabad district may experience light rain at isolated places on October 14,” the IMD said in a statement.

The IMD also warned of scorching heat and humidity in the city on Saturday, with the temperature expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius.

It is unclear whether the rain will have any impact on the match, but the Narendra Modi Stadium is equipped with a drainage system that can remove water from the field quickly.

The match is scheduled to start at 1:30 PM Pakistan time.

Meanwhile amidst the threats to the Ahmedabad cricket stadium during the Pakistan-India match, the Ahmedabad City Police Chief G S Malik has issued a notification declaring the city as a ‘No Drone Fly Zone’ from 6 am to 12 midnight on October 14.

Earlier, Mumbai Police received an email threatening to blow up Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat hosting several matches of the tournament.

In the email, which was sent to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the sender demanded Rs500 crore and the release of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to stop the attack. The email also mentioned that militants were already in a position to carry out the attacks.
