LONDON: Famous singer Rod Stewart praised King Charles III during the fifth anniversary celebration of The King’s Trust on Wednesday, commending the monarch’s handling of his recent US visit.

The globally renowned singer met the British king at the charity event in the US and appeared to take a swipe at Donald Trump, saying, “May I say, well done in the Americas. You were superb. Absolutely superb. You put that little ratbag in his place.”

A video clip shared online showed the two shaking hands and exchanging remarks in front of attendees at the event.

Last week, the Charles III and Queen Camilla were on a a four-day state visit to the United States to mark a significant diplomatic moment despite ongoing disagreements between the two countries over the Iran conflict. They were warmly welcomed by the US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in Washington.

The visit coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence and is the first trip to the US by a British monarch in 20 years.
