Saba Qamar under fire for promoting ‘no-makeup’ look on screen

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani drama star Saba Qamar, widely admired for her powerful performances, has recently come under heavy criticism.

Saba, who has showcased her acting skills in several hit dramas including Pani Jaisa Piyar, Baaghi, Be Sharam, Cheekh, Digest Writer and Fraud, is currently appearing in two popular serials — Case No 9 and Pamaal.

Her on-screen chemistry with Osman Mukhtar in Pamaal is being appreciated, while her strong portrayal of a rape survivor in Case No 9 has also earned praise.

Saba Qamar is known for her natural beauty and minimal use of makeup.

In the latest episode of Case No 9, she appeared without makeup and wrote in an Instagram post, “Let’s normalise coming on screen without makeup.”

However, many social media users disagreed with her statement and criticised her.

Commenters argued that Saba Qamar and many other celebrities undergo expensive cosmetic procedures, fillers and injections, making their “no-makeup” claims inaccurate.

Some users wrote sarcastically that “it’s easy to appear without makeup after surgeries and fillers,” while others said the actress was actually wearing makeup.
