SC to take up intra court appeal on NAB amendments verdict next week

SC

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court will hold a vital hearing on an intra-court appeal against the NAB Amendment verdict on Tuesday (Oct 31).

On September 15, the Supreme Court, by a majority of two to one, ruled that the public representatives who benefited from the amendments made by the previous Shehbaz Sharif-led government in the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) will have to face corruption references again.

A review petition was filed on Oct 13 challenging the Supreme Court’s decision to declare amendments made to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO) 1999 null and void.

The petitioner, Abdul Jabbar, through his counsel Farooq H Naek, has urged the court to set aside its verdict from September 15, 2023.

On Tuesday, this case will be overseen by a five-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Esa, assisted by Justice Aminuddin, Justice Jamal Khan, and Justice Athar Minullah.
