LAHORE: The Lahore district administration has launched initiatives to protect young girls from online fraud and harassment through the “Children’s Cyber Security Training Programme”.

Under this programme, a series of special lectures were conducted for female students in government schools, focusing on internet safety tools.

One of the lecturers was Zahwah Noore Fatima, a 14-year-old student and child rights activist. She addressed girls aged up to 15 years, educating them about internet safety measures.

At Government Kinnaird Girls High School, Lahore, students received training on safe social media usage, particularly on avoiding online harassment and cyberbullying. Zahwah Noore Fatima emphasized how to navigate online threats like blackmailing or hateful trends through online images.

The lecture also covered topics such as social media crimes, cyberbullying, and best practices for securing social media accounts. Zahwah educated the students about the potential risks of artificial intelligence and the benefits of modern media, especially in the post-Covid era.

Speaking about the rise in online harassment, Zahwah emphasized the importance of educating children about safety tools such as two-way tools, picture safety, and profile security.

Students from Government Kinnaird School found the cyber security lecture informative and beneficial, expressing their newfound understanding of self-protection online. Teachers also appreciated the initiative, suggesting that such seminars become a permanent part of school extracurricular activities.

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider highlighted ongoing efforts to educate students in public schools about the advantages and disadvantages of artificial intelligence and the increased use of modern media platforms.

This reflects a proactive approach by local authorities to address cyber security issues affecting young students.
