Schools to remain closed tomorrow in Punjab

LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi on Friday announced that schools will remain closed on Saturday in the province.
In a positive turn of events, the Punjab government has announced the lifting of smog-related restrictions originally slated for the upcoming weekend.
Presiding over the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Anti-Smog Mohsin Naqvi said that schools will remain closed on Saturday however markets and businesses will operate as normal over the weekend.
He said restaurants and other business houses will also remain open as usual on Saturday and Sunday.
This decision comes in the wake of a notable improvement in the smog situation, attributed to a recent spell of rain in Lahore, which has led to a significant enhancement in the Air Quality Index.
Notably, Lahore has dropped to the seventh position on the list of the most polluted cities.

From December 18, there will be winter vacations in educational institutions of Punjab, he said.
Chief Minister Punjab also instructed to continue the process of cleaning the roads and sprinkling water.
He also ordered an effective crackdown against smoke emitting vehicles.
Indiscriminate action should also be continued against tire burning factories, he concluded.
