Security forces kills 10 Khawarij terrorists in DI Khan

ISLAMABAD Security forces killed 10 Khawarij terrorists, including a top commander, and injured four others during an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out in the Kalachi area of Dera Ismail Khan following intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists.
During the operation, security forces killed 10 terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij, while four others were injured. The top commander, identified as Alam Mehsud, was also killed in the operation
According to the security sources, four of the slain militants were Afghan nationals.
Security officials said that a large quantity of explosives, suicide jackets, improvised explosive devices and weapons were also recovered from the militants.
According to the security sources, Alam Mehsud was involved in the 2008 attack on the Nawaz Kot post and had also participated in attacks on the Bannu jail and army posts.
Clearance operations are still ongoing in the area to eliminate any remaining threats, security officials said ading that operations against anti-peace elements in the country will continue with the same resolve in the future.
This operation is being described as one of the major counter-terrorism actions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent months.
In October, security forces killed at least three terrorists during an exchange of fire following an attack on a police training centre in Dera Ismail Khan.
According to District Police Officer (DPO) Sajjad Ahmed, around eight terrorists armed with heavy weapons attacked the centre. “One of the attackers detonated himself near the facility, while two others were killed in retaliatory fire from security forces,” he had said.
