Journalist Khalid Ahmed passes away

LAHORE: Senior journalist and columnist Khaled Ahmed passed away in Lahore due to a heart attack at his residence. He was 81 years old.

The funeral prayer for the deceased will be held today (Monday) at 3:00 pm at Zaman Park Ground.

He is survived by a son.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has condoled over the death of the senior journalist and has expressed her sympathies with the bereaved family.

Khaled Ahmed was associated with several prominent publications that included: The Pakistan Times, The Nation, The Frontier Post, The Friday Times and Daily Times. His last stint was with Lahore-based Newsweek Pakistan as a consulting editor.

He had also authored a number of books which include: The State in Crisis, Pakistan: Behind the Ideological Mask (Facts Behind the Great Men We Don’t Want to Know), Sectarian War: Sunni-Shia Conflict in Pakistan, Word for Word: Stories Behind Everyday Words We Use and Pakistan’s Terror Conundrum.

Several veteran journalists including Najam Sethi and Talat Hussain have condoled the death of the seasoned journalist.
