Separate barracks to be allocated for beggars in Punjab jails

LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to allocate separate barracks for beggars in jails across the province.
Secretary Home Punjab, Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said that the beggars will face imprisonment and the law will take its course.
The Home Secretary on Wednesday visited the District Jail Faisalabad and inspected the visitor’s room, kitchen, hospital of jail, male and female barracks. He also examined the quality of food provided to prisoners and directed food authorities of surprise visits on a monthly basis.
While directing the authorities concerned to develop the prisoner’s visitor rooms across the province as per international standards, he said that air conditioners should be used in the visiting room during the summer season. The infrastructure development authority should design the visiting rooms in the prisons and the visitors should be provided with all possible facilities, he added.

Noor-ul-Amin Mengal directed the conduct of health screening of inmates in prisons across the province, training prison staff regarding food preparation and healthy practices from private consultants.
The Home Secretary directed that food-grade utensils should be used in prison kitchens as per the rules of hygiene. INP
