Star Binzer took on the name “Shellshock” that he adopted from his persona in Crazy Town. The rock star faced a tumultuous journey marked by substance abuse issues.

Despite the initial success of their debut album “The Gift of Game” in 1999 and tours with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Crazy Town disbanded after their 2002 album “Darkhorse” failed to replicate their earlier achievements.

Following Crazy Town’s breakup, Star Binzer pursued a solo career and notably collaborated with Paul Oakenfold on the hit “Starry Eyed Surprise” in 2002. While his solo efforts found moderate success in Europe, he remained in the public eye through appearances on reality TV shows, where he openly discussed his struggles with addiction.

In 2012, Shellshock’s battle with substance abuse increaed when he was hospitalised after losing consciousness and fell into a coma. Despite this setback, he managed to recover and continued to intermittently engage with music.

His recent death marks the end of a turbulent life defined by musical highs and personal lows. He is survived by his three children, Halo, Gage, and Phoenix.
