RIYADH (REUTERS): The crescent moon of Shawwal has been sighted in Saudi Arabia, marking the end of Ramadan. As a result, Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30.
According to international news agencies, authorities in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf nations had urged the public to look for the Shawwal moon.
Following confirmed moon sightings from various regions of Saudi Arabia, the country officially announced Eidul Fitr for Sunday.
Eid-ul-Fitr: Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meets tomorrow
In the UAE, where drones were used to observe the moon, confirmed sightings led to the declaration of Eid on Sunday.
Similarly, Qatar has also announced Eid for the same day after moon sightings were confirmed. Most Gulf nations will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Iran, Oman, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Australia, India, and Bangladesh did not witness the Shawwal moon, leading to the announcement of Eid on Monday, March 31, in these countries.
Dry weather expected during Eid-ul-Fitr holidays
In Pakistan and several other Asian nations, the Shawwal moon will be observed tomorrow.
Earlier, it was anticipated that most countries around the world would celebrate Eid on the same day—Monday, March 31.
