Sheffield Wednesday considers striker Jamie Vardy as club rebuilds lineup

SHEFFIELD: Sheffield Wednesday are reportedly interested in signing English striker Jamie Vardy as they prepare for the upcoming League One season. The club is working on rebuilding its squad at Hillsborough, and Vardy has emerged as a surprising name in early discussions. However, no official move has been confirmed.

Jamie Vardy’s career is one of football’s most inspiring stories. He was rejected at 16 for being “too small,” but he didn’t give up. He started playing in lower leagues with Stocksbridge Park Steels while working in a factory to support himself.

He later moved up step by step, playing for Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town, where his goals earned him a transfer to Leicester City.

At Leicester, everything changed. He helped the club get promoted and then played a key role in their amazing Premier League title win in 2015–16. He even broke a record by scoring in 11 straight league games.

Vardy went from non-league football to becoming a Premier League champion and England international. After leaving Leicester in 2025, he continued his career in Italy with Cremonese, where he is still playing and scoring goals.
