Journalist claims Sheikh Rashid to ‘criticise PTI chairman in interview’

ISLAMABAD: Awami Muslim League (AML) leader and a key ally of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI), Sheikh Rashid, has re-emerged and has reportedly been granted an exclusive ‘interview’ on a private news channel.

Sheikh Rashid was apprehended by the police in an undisclosed case on September 17 and his whereabouts had been unknown.

“Sheikh Rashid did not mention any plans to dissolve his party or join the Istikham-e-Pakistan party led by Jahangir Tarin”, Azaz Syed said on his social media account.

Sheikh Rashid arrested from Rawalpindi

On Thursday the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi bench had issued a “final deadline” for the recovery of AML chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed. The court has instructed the police to locate and recover the former federal interior minister by October 26.

The case has since garnered significant attention and raised questions about the circumstances surrounding Sheikh Rashid’s arrest.

With former PTI leader Farukh Habib openly crticising his once revered leader not long ago, it is yet to be seen what the firebrand Rashid’s interview will have in store for media.
