ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the Senate and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shibli Faraz on Monday warned legislators against enacting laws that could haunt them in future.
“Today, this law may target us, but tomorrow it could target you. This could happen to you tomorrow. We are not dependent on crutches like the Form 47 9government, we oppose legislation that is against the people,” he said, referring to laws that are being enacted in parliament these days.
Speaking on the floor of Senate, he cautioned lawmakers to avoid passing laws they might regret in the future. “Stand up and vote for or against the legislation,” Faraz said as his speech was met with noise and disruptions from treasury benches.

He criticized the use of state resources to block PTI’s path, noting that despite government efforts, inflation continues to rise and the country is heading towards institutional destruction.
The PTI leader also threw down the gauntlet to all political parties, offering them the chance to hold a rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
“If you have the guts, prove it by holding a rally. We will provide all the facilities,” he said.
Shibli Faraz questioned why containers were placed to shut down Islamabad if the government was so concerned about the rights of its citizens. He asked, “Why were the roads from Islamabad, Punjab, and KP blocked?”
He said that the PTI had obtained a no objection certificate (NOC) for their Islamabad rally, and questioned why Islamabad was closed.
He invited all parties, including the PML-N, to hold a jalsa in KP. “We will give you all the facilities, even donate the money,” he added.
He said that despite this offer, he doubts they would even gather 10 workers for such a rally. “We are political people, and we have reached here by doing politics.”
Calls for Judicial Inquiry into 2018 and 2024 Elections
Senator Shibli Faraz also demanded a judicial inquiry into the results of the 2018 and 2024 elections. He proposed that the Senate pass a joint resolution to form a judicial commission to review both elections and present a judgment on their outcomes.
The opposition leader also took aim at the finance minister, accusing him of having no solutions. “You ruled for 40 years, but say, we’ve sunk the ship of the country in three years.
