Social media buzzes after Erling Haaland debuts new hairstyle ahead of Premier League 2026-27

WEB DESK: Social media fans of globally renowned Norwegian footballer Erling Haaland flooded various platforms after the Manchester City forward unveiled a completely new hairstyle ahead of the 2026-27 Premier League (PL) season.

Haaland debuted his military-style buzz cut on Sunday, just hours before Manchester City’s opening league match against Bournemouth—a game City won 2–1.

The new look quickly became a social-media spectacle. Haaland cut off the long blonde locks that had become closely associated with his Viking-inspired goalscoring persona, with fans praising the transformation and calling him even more handsome. Others saw the haircut as the perfect way to begin a new campaign with a completely different style.

For years, Haaland’s hair had become almost mythical among football fans. He even revealed that Swedish football legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic once warned him: “Never cut your hair, because your strength is in your hair.”

City manager Pep Guardiola joked about the change, telling Haaland: “You’re lucky you have hair. I wish I had hair like you!”

Haaland also called Zlatan, whose reaction was anything but subtle. The former Sweden international expressed disbelief, asking whether Haaland had lost a bet before jokingly telling him to “Block me and erase my number.”
