Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried stepped out in New York City on Tuesday for a special screening of The Housemaid, giving fans a glamorous preview of the psychological thriller ahead of its 19 December release.
Old-Hollywood glamour on the red carpet
Sweeney, 28, arrived in a white crystal-covered gown with a plunging neckline, a delicate train and a feathered boa worn low on her arms. The look, paired with retro curls and soft pink glam, nodded clearly to classic Hollywood icons.
Seyfried chose a blush-pink halter dress with subtle ruching at the waist, posing side by side with her co-star for photographers.
From viral novel to psychological thriller on screen
The Housemaid is adapted from Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, which became a TikTok favourite and one of the most widely discussed thriller books of the last few years.
The story follows Millie, a young woman hired as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Winchester family. What begins as a fresh start soon unravels into a dangerous arrangement as secrets inside the home surface and power dynamics shift in disturbing ways.
The film marks the first major screen adaptation of McFadden’s work, with Sweeney taking on the lead role and Seyfried starring opposite her in a tense, slow-burning dynamic that fans of the book will recognise instantly.
Release date
The Housemaid will be released in cinemas on 19 December, positioning it as one of the final major thrillers of the year.
