T20 World Cup: England crush USA by 10 wickets

England crush USA

BARBADOS: In the 29th match of the T20 World Cup, England cruised to a dominant ten-wicket victory over the USA. Held in Barbados, the crucial Group 2 match saw England chase down the target of 116 runs in just nine overs.

England’s Jos Buttler shone with a stellar 83, while Phil Salt contributed 25. England won the toss and opted to bowl first, putting immediate pressure on the American team.

Despite the USA’s impressive run in their first T20 World Cup, including a victory over Pakistan in the initial stage, their performance faltered against England. The last five American wickets fell without adding a single run, resulting in a total of 115 all out.

For the USA, Nitish Kumar top-scored with 30 runs, followed by Corey Anderson with 29. Contributions from Harmeet Singh (21), Aaron Jones (10), and Steven Taylor (12) were not enough to mount a competitive total.

England’s Chris Jordan was the standout bowler, claiming a hat-trick and finishing with four wickets. Sam Curran and Adil Rashid each took two wickets, while Rhys Topley and Liam Livingstone chipped in with one wicket apiece.

This victory was essential for England to bolster their chances of reaching the semi-finals. Meanwhile, despite a commendable effort in the tournament, the USA faces potential elimination from Group 2.
