Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce set for wedding celebration in New York today

NEW YORK: Pop superstar Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce are widely expected to celebrate their wedding in New York on Friday, capping a relationship that has captivated fans around the world for nearly three years.

Although neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed the event, speculation intensified after the New York Post’s *Page Six* reported, citing unnamed sources, that the couple had already married. Reuters could not independently verify the report.

Excitement mounted around New York’s Madison Square Garden, where barricades were erected and a heavy media presence gathered outside the venue. Workers were seen unloading equipment and supplies throughout the week, while black-curtained scaffolding blocked public view of arrivals.

A confidentiality notice was also posted at one of the venue’s entrances, adding to speculation that a high-profile private event was being held.

According to US media reports, around 1,000 guests are expected to attend the celebration over the Independence Day holiday weekend. Reports also said the couple donated $26 million to several charities in New York and elsewhere ahead of the event.

Fans, many of them Swift’s devoted “Swifties,” gathered outside the venue despite soaring temperatures, hoping to catch a glimpse of the celebrity couple and their guests.

“This is the closest thing to a royal wedding in the US,” Alison Walsh, a fan visiting from Connecticut with her daughter, told Reuters outside the venue.

Swift and Kelce began dating in 2023 after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed on his podcast that he had unsuccessfully tried to meet the singer backstage during her Eras Tour concert. The story quickly captured public attention, and the pair later confirmed their relationship through a series of public appearances.

The couple announced their engagement in August 2025 with a lighthearted Instagram post that read: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Swift, one of the world’s most successful recording artists, has won 14 Grammy Awards and became a billionaire following the record-breaking Eras Tour. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June.

Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, is regarded as one of the NFL’s greatest tight ends and also co-hosts the popular New Heights podcast.

Despite intense public interest, neither Swift nor Kelce has officially confirmed reports of their wedding or Friday’s celebration.
