Tech giants gather in Lahore to propel Pakistan’s app development future

LAHORE: Pakistani youth are increasingly engaged in the apps and gaming industry. To support this trend, Google hosted a significant event, “Think Apps 2024,” in Lahore, Punjab’s capital. The event saw the participation of 350 leading developers, who were invited to learn new techniques from prominent figures in the global and regional industry.

Google specially invited Muhammad Hasan Afzal, founder of Lads Technology, a prominent name in app development, to share his experiences. He provided insights on creating successful apps and monetizing them. Saad Hameed discussed his services and experiences in the gaming industry, while Khurram Sarmad focused on the services sector.

Speaking to the media, Muhammad Hasan Afzal emphasized that app development offers a promising future for young people. He encouraged them to seek investors and start their own businesses instead of searching for jobs. He also extended an offer to invest in unique ideas from talented youth who lack financial resources.

Saeed Iqbal, CEO of AppWorks, a new venture in the apps and gaming industry, highlighted the significant potential he sees in this field. With decades of experience in global business, he is now investing millions of dollars into this industry, aiming to create employment opportunities for the youth and bring foreign exchange to Pakistan.

Naeem Noor, CEO of AppSource, stressed the importance of AI in the future and expressed his commitment to exploring new avenues within it. Muhammad Abbas, CEO of Lads Technology, thanked Google for their support in Pakistan and encouraged the youth.

Google’s Director for Pakistan, Farhan S Qureshi, remarked on the high potential for long-term growth in Pakistan’s app and gaming industry. “Several Pakistani studios are at the forefront of mobile app development, consistently generating millions of downloads daily, employing hundreds of Pakistanis, and gaining global attention,” he said.

The event included a 5-hour session where Google representatives provided guidance to young developers on advancing in the industry.
