TikToker Rajab Butt booked in Lahore assault case

LAHORE: Lahore Police have registered a case against TikToker Rajab Butt and several others following a complaint by a woman alleging assault and intimidation at a private café in the city’s Nawab Town area.

According to the first information report (FIR), the complainant said she had gone to a private café with her friends for a meal on July 25 when the incident occurred.

She alleged that two men and two women began misbehaving with one of her friends, leading to a confrontation. The complainant claimed the suspects slapped them and brandished pistols during the altercation. She further alleged that one of the accused, opened fire at the scene.

In her statement, the complainant accused Butt of orchestrating the entire incident.

Police have registered the case against Butt and the other suspects and have launched an investigation into the allegations. No arrests or official findings have been announced so far.

Butt assaulted in Karachi

Earlier in December 2025, Butt was allegedly assaulted by a group of lawyers at Karachi’s City Courts while appearing before a sessions court for a hearing in a case involving allegations of hurting religious sentiments.

The incident occurred after Butt appeared before the court following the expiry of his interim bail. His lawyer, Mian Ali Ashfaq, claimed on X that Butt was attacked in his presence by several lawyers, leaving him injured. Ashfaq condemned the assault, saying lawyers had taken the law into their own hands and warning that such actions would damage the legal profession’s reputation. He described the incident as unacceptable in a civilised society.

Videos circulating on social media showed Butt with his shirt torn as he made his way through a crowd. Another clip showed a group of lawyers chanting slogans in support of the Karachi Bar. Among them was complainant Riaz Solangi, who alleged that Butt had previously used inappropriate language about lawyers. A lawyer seen in the video claimed the assault was a response to Butt’s remarks and warned that anyone speaking against lawyers would face similar consequences.

TikToker Nadeem Mubarak, also known as Nani Wala, was also present at the court. Both influencers had returned to Pakistan from London in December after securing 10-day protective bail from the Islamabad High Court in multiple legal cases.

This particular case stemmed from a complaint filed by Solangi under Section 295-A of the Pakistan Penal Code, alleging that Butt offended religious sentiments through a December 2024 video in which he was seen offering prayers while music played in the background. The FIR was registered after a sessions court directed police to lodge the case. Following public criticism, Butt released a three-part video apologising and expressing regret if his actions had unintentionally hurt religious sentiments.
