Zimbabwe defeat Sri Lanka by 67 runs

RAWALPINDI: Zimbabwe defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the second match of the T20 tri-nation series.

In the match played at Rawalpindi Stadium, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 95 runs while chasing a target of 163.

For Sri Lanka, Dasun Shanaka was the top scorer with 34 runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored 11, Chamindu Mendis 9, Wanindu Hasaranga 8, Maheesh Theekshana 8, Kusal Mendis 6, Kusal Perera 4, Dushmantha Chameera 1, and Ishan Malinga 1, while Pathum Nissanka was dismissed without scoring.

Nuwan Thushara remained not out on 1.

For Zimbabwe, Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans took two wickets each, while Graeme Cremer, Tino Tenda Maposa, Sikandar Raza and Ryan Burl picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, batting first, Zimbabwe scored 162 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted overs.

Brian Bennett and captain Sikandar Raza were the top scorers with 49 and 47 runs respectively. Ryan Burl made 18, Tashinga Musekwa 11, Brendan Taylor 11, Tadiwanashe Marumani 10, Brad Evans 4 and Tony Munyonga 0.

Tinotenda Maposa remained not out on 5 and Graeme Cremer on 3.

For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets, Ishan Malinga grabbed two, while Dushmantha Chameera and Maheesh Theekshana claimed one wicket each.
